Applying technology to
strengthen and preserve
our memories.

Our Approach

Jonathan L. Livingston founded the Memory Project in 2001 to commercialize new technologies that support and enhance human memory. The Memory Project builds on the convergence of two important trends:

• our expanding population of elders

• the growth of ubiquitous computing technologies to help people with their everyday lives.

The Memory Project design philosophy reflects our commitment to understanding and expressing what users need. Our projects combine emerging technologies – such as digital libraries, wireless networks, and gaming engines – into convenient systems that improve our ability to remember. By coupling leading-edge design and technology, we give the user a "wow" experience.

Our Projects

Our inaugural project is the Memory Companion – an easy-to-use system that assists elders with keeping track of essential information in their homes.

Over 500,000 American elders with mild memory impairments are at risk of placement in residential care facilities. The Memory Companion offers a simple solution to help keep elders healthy and safe while living at home. It uses technology found in a standard television set, building on research results from Intel, Oregon Health & Science University, and University of Wisconsin.
